I heard an interesting observation voiced by one of the presenters this morning: the greatest places in the world were not built all at one time, they grow and evolve incrementally into unique places that are loved. It reminds me of our slowly evolving waterfront that started with a bridge to nowhere. How short-sighted the person was that first penned that description. It leads to the most beautiful waterfront park on the Mohawk. Bridge Street is budding and weve reworked our traffic patterns to draw more traffic back downtown. The Bridge is being planted, connecting our park to Port Jackson and the bike path. Were planning for a walkway to Lock 11, the train station relocation, and connectors to downtown. This is the most exciting development Amsterdams seen since the mills were built. I am amazed that people still bemoan this wonderful opportunity. How sad for them. For goodness sake, believe in our future!
