...I heard the Governor of the Bank of Ghana saying This goes to all those betting that the Cedi will fall further. We are taking measures...or something to that effect. First, I think this language is unbecoming of his office. It sounds almost like a threat. This is not area boys playing chaskele. There are market players out there making bets everyday in currency trading. If you are sitting pretty like a dead duck, youll be taken for lunch. So quit the theatrics and show us some testicular fortitude...sir? Secondly, na who cause am? Any Governor worth his salt would have seen the precipitous decline of the GHc as a result of the actions taken in February. A first year economics student would have seen that. These were not the usual unforeseen/unintended consequences. They were written on the wall in cold black and white! Further, did we not warn you guys (assuming you folks were so thick-headed you couldnt see the white chalk against the black board)? Did we not holler to high heaven that these will be the consequences? So where from this bombastic, tough-talking from? Ah Ewurade...for once cant people in these positions recognise that when they so much as sneeze it not only goes to their credibility, but also send signals to the market...if for nothing at all, cant these people learn from Trevor Manuel...at least he is African?
