I heard the end of a radio interview with Dr. J. I guess the NBA - TopicsExpress

I heard the end of a radio interview with Dr. J. I guess the NBA channel is having a special on him this Monday. Some things that come to mind about Dr. J: He is one of a handful of players in NCAA history to average 20 points and 20 rebounds over a season (While at UMASS, he went pro after his sophomore year). The most amazing thing I saw from him was in a televised exhibition with NBA and ABA players. He was still in the ABA at the time and he had the ball while straddling the free throw line when he took one bounce and dunked the ball! He covered 15 feet with no problem. I remember reading that he was called the Dr. because, "no one operated like him." :) I also remember reading where someone said they might have to refer to a "rebounding range" because he was not restricted to balls in his immediate vicinity, but could grab the ball in a circumference around him. He was quite the player.
