I hereby unveil a new logical fallacy. Its called The Tinkerbell Fallacy. The whole idea is that in Peter Pan, if people dont believe in the existence of Tinkerbell, she shall surely die. If people just believe hard enough, Tinkerbell will in fact continue existing. Similarly, the Tinkerbell Fallacy posits that an idea must be believed in order for it to be seen as legitimate reality, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Here is an example of it being used in an argument: Person A: Gravity exists and its what keeps us planted firmly on the ground. Person B: No, gravity doesnt exist. Its only that you BELIEVE that gravity exists. Its only your perception of gravity that makes it happen. I identify as weightless, therefore gravity is oppressive to me. (Tinkerbell Fallacy) Person A: No, Im fairly certain that gravity does exist, and it has been scientifically proven that gravity exists. Person B: You just dont believe hard enough that gravity doesnt exist. Check your gravity privilege. You will be truly amazed just how often the Tinkerbell Fallacy is applicable to arguments. Use this as often as you would when you call out any other logical fallacy.
