I hesitate to post this due to current situations involving cops. I believe if you break the law and run, you should be apprehended. That being said, I am NOT weighing in on the current issue - however it pertains. Last night, I went to pick up my husband at Tulsa airport. I chose to go by way of through Hulbert . . . like I always do. It was after 10:30 p.m., obviously dark and raining. Before I reached Hulbert, I became aware of a car behind me. I did not know he was a cop or law enforcement of any kind. I definitely was not speeding; nor, for a change, was I going too much under the speed limit. I drove at 20 through the town with a posted speed limit of 25. As I drove beyond the town to a rather deserted stretch of road, where there is virtually no way to pull off the road, the car behind me put on his flashing blue and red lights. I could then see that the car was black and white, but unable to see any other marks from my rearview mirror vantage point. I pulled off the best I could. A man approached - he looked like he was sort of wearing a uniform. My window was down, my license ready. He checked something on the back of the truck. When he came closer, he tucked a flashlight under his neck, holding it there with his shoulder. I couldnt see a badge. Nor, did I think to ask for one. He did not identify himself, nor did I ask if I knew why he pulled me over. He asked for my license and said he needed to run it. I did not have my insurance info; so, he said he would check to see if was tagged with my registration. I had a very sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I noticed that his shirt was open and frayed at the collar. He came back and returned my license. He said I was lucky he didnt write me a ticket for failing to carry my insurance card. He looked inside my truck through the window, getting too close. He wanted me to open the door. He had a creepy look on his face. He finally told me to have a good night. Thats when I asked him why he pulled me over. I tried to find a badge somewhere. Couldnt. He stated that he had concerns over such a small person handling such a big truck. I rolled up my window and drove off within the speed limit. I was fine - nothing actually happened. Sooooo . . . what should I have done differently? What should I do? I can tell you I will NOT drive that way again if I dont have to. Law enforcement friends? Advice? I had nightmares; and, I cant get that sick face out of my head.
