I honestly cant understand why so many leftists or even socialists are pro-European Union. There is nothing progressive or internationalist about the EU. The EU is a highly centralized state apparatus controlled by big monopoly capital. It is an economic, political and military alliance of imperialists, at its core dominated by Germany, France, Italy and the UK, who through the growing indebtedness of countries like Ireland, Greece, Poland, Romania and Slovenia make insane profits for private banks and other imperialist financial institutions. The EU has been busy coming up with new laws which take away previously gained social benefits of the working class in Europe. Most of the laws within countries in the EU are now being discussed and approved on a supranational level, rather than on a national one, as a way to please and facilitate European multinationals to increase the super-exploitation of semi-colonial countries through various ways (value transfer, relocation of capital, import of cheap labour). Also the EU has effectively been involved in intervening in progressive and anti-imperialist peoples struggles outside (and inside) of Europe. The upcoming strength of the bloc of EU Imperialists goes hand in hand with militarization within the EU, it goes so far that we now even have a joint EU army. And theres also the fact that progressive treaties are actually incredibly reactionary. Such as the Schengen Agreement, which under the cover of eliminating border control between EU countries, has effectively increased border control around Fortress Europe, and as a result has resulted in thousands of documented deaths. Because of that treaty the police force within the EU has increased and is being used against loads of undocumented people whove had to flee their countries because of war and poverty, conditions which the EU countries have been actively creating by imposing macroeconomic neoliberal policies. YES to international solidarity between peoples! NO to capitalist internationalism between multinationals and big capitalists! Dissolution of the European Union now!
