I honestly think I can see myself retiring from what I do now. I have about 3 weeks left in this quarter of teaching the capstone leadership course to graduating seniors. Ive been a counselor, financial advisor, career services rep, motivator, comforter, and most of all, a prayer partner to college students who didnt come from the same background as I did. Its hard to not get attached to them b/c of their life stories. Some are from broken homes with no moral support from their families, some were not afforded the chance to go to traditional college right out of high school; some were, but got caught up in the wrong aspects of life, but now theyre all taking initiatives to not remain or not become a product of their environments. I have a hearing impaired student that hails a taxi to school & has a translator for all classes. To this day, the student has not missed one class and makes straight As! Beloved, I say this to give you a very simple revelation: No one can stop you, but YOU. As my students get ready for graduation & I gear up for another quarter, I just want to encourage all students who went back to school today (Mobile County) and those who will go back next week. Be it pre-school, K-12, college, or grad school, God has given you everything youll need to become everything you want to be and who He wants you to be. Spiritually, its already done.
