I honored her privately yesterday, and this is my dedication to her. Too many years ago yesterday, I lost one of the people who I loved most in this world. My grandmother was taken from us suddenly and without warning. And my heart still breaks every June 28th when I think about it. I owe my grandmother so much for who I am today. Her love was unconditional. She encouraged my creativity. She taught me to play the piano (which is why I have the tattoo for her that I do). She always bought the candy Andrea and I stole from the cabinet and went door to door selling. She is responsible for the recipes that shape my holidays and shaped my childhood memories. And while the pain of losing her is still fresh in my heart, even though it has been nearly twenty years, I can still hear her voice and see her laughing. And I hold on to the knowledge that I will be reunited with her in the Summerlands when it is my turn to go. And I know she is watching me and guiding me every day of my life. I love you, grandma, so very very much. And I miss you immensely.
