I hope all this attention on suicide will scare... motivate... inspire people to get help if they need it. If people judge you, they are ass holes. Marriah starts college in two weeks and when she tells people that she wants to be a counselor, its funny how many people reply back with Youll never run out of business, a lot of people need help. Its pounded in our heads that we must respect and take care of others, but how many of you were taught to respect and take care of yourself? Thats not being selfish, thats being responsible. Thats being healthy. It will maximize your potential to help others. I mentioned this in the comments of a post of mine last week. When working with clients we talk a lot about the concept of self-management and how a lack of self-management will derail you from doing whatever it is you want to be doing. You must give focus to yourself. I use the analogy of what all of us experience when we fly. What is the 1st thing the flight attendant tells you to do if the air mask drops? Put your mask on first! Why? If you cant breathe, how are you going to help anyone else?
