I hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day weekend. In the spirit of fair working conditions and recognizing the labor achievements of hardworking Americans, we have increased Michigan’s minimum wage to $8.15 per hour, a seventy-five cent increase from the past $7.40 per hour minimum wage. I look forward to seeing it increase to $9.25 per hour by 2018; however, I wish the Legislature allowed the voters decide whether increasing the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour was fair and reasonable policy.
