I hope everyone who likes Grace Community Church will sign up for the You Tube page that has been started for a side project I am involved in with Dr. Warren Gage concerning comedy and the Christian life. Warren and I, both well trained and versed in both the Hellenistic and classical literature of the West, are convinced that reading and understanding the Bible through the lens of earlier literature makes the Bible come alive. Understanding that the Biblical writers were well aware of the literature of their day and that they employed those literary skills as they wrote, gives context and meaning to us as we interpret Scripture. One of the large pieces of a literary reading of Scripture is understanding classical comedy and what its gesture was (low to high). These videos are meant to help Christians and non-Christians alike to better understand what they are reading when they approach the Bible. It is truly our wish that all people will come to see Jesus for who He really is and that of a savior of those in need (which is all of us).
