AC Milan are reported to have reached an agreement with Liverpool midfielder Suso over a proposed move to the San Siro, and now what remains to be decided is whether he will move to Italy in January or next summer. Agreement in place This is according to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who claims the representatives of Suso have negotiated a four-year contract with Milan that will see the player earn €1.5 million-per-year over its duration. Suso is out of contract with Liverpool at the end of the season so will be able to leave Anfield on a free transfer unless he is sold in January. Liverpool and Milan, it is claimed, will now discuss when the move can be completed, with the Italian club required to pay a fee if the deal is to be done in the next transfer window. Much was expected of Suso when he arrived at Liverpool from Cadiz four years ago during the tenure of Rafael Benitez, with the club managing to beat Barcelona and Real Madrid to the acquisition of the then 16-year-old. Exciting prospect It is, then, something of a shame that Suso has been unable to make the sort of impact both the club and the supporters had desired, with the 20-year-old having been identified as a future star ever since his arrival. Suso had initially impressed under Brendan Rodgers following his appointment as Kenny Dalglish’s successor, with the young Spaniard making 20 appearances across all competitions during the maiden campaign under the new manager. The following season, however, the decision was taken to allow the player to leave on loan, with Suso moving back to Spain to join Almeria. He made played 35 times during this spell, scoring three times and providing seven assists. First-team concerns Suso remained in frequent contact with Rodgers while in Spain and had been optimistic about his Liverpool future upon his return to the club. However, his route to the first-team is somewhat congested. Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho had already provided extreme competition for Suso at No.10 or on the flank, and the summer arrivals of Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic only exacerbated his problems. Given this apparent lack of regular prospects, it may have been the player rather than the club that took the decision to pursue a move, but Liverpool are rather unlikely to block his pursuit of first-team football elsewhere. givemesport
