I hope its OK to post this here. I have just written up some info on parking ticket towing... Please delete if its not applicable :) ADVICE ON CAR TOWING SITUATIONS OK, it has become apparent that the councils are getting ANPR Bailiffs to snoop around waiting for car registration plates to PING on their computers. Several people have had their cars towed to impounds and held to ransom for hundreds of pounds, where parking tickets and other contraventions are not agreed to by us, and as such go unpaid. Here are some tips to avoid being towed, or at least to make it much harder for them to take your car. 1: PARKING YOUR CAR IN CAR PARKS (a) NEVER use open and ground level car parks if you can avoid it. Especially those that are NCP or council run. (b) Park your car in a multistory car park and try to tuck it next to a wall. Tow trucks cannot get into these low-level tight squeezes. (c) Park next to a long wall or other permanent object. Park so that the rear of the car faces outwards so that turned steering cannot be lifted easily. Try not to park in amongst a row of cars. These cars come and go and leave a higher risk of a tow truck getting access. (d) Turn your steering wheel all the way to one side or the other. If you are parked with a wall along the left (passenger) side of the car, turn the steering to the left fully. If your wall is to the drivers side, turn to the right. As long as you turn the steering so that driving forward results in hitting the wall, you are doing it right. (e) Get a steering wheel lock and lock off that position of the steering wheel. Full steering wheel locking covers are best. (f) FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CARS - use your handbrake and leave the car in gear. Added security is a gear and handbrake lock. For AUTO Transmission, use P as normal and use the handbrake. All four wheels are locked. 2: PARKING AT HOME As with the above, try and get your car alongside a wall or building. Follow the steps above to ensure that if your car is targeted, it cannot be gotten to. If you have a driveway and more than one car, block your suspect car in. Trap it tightly between an innocent car in the family and a wall, so much so that no clamper can get near it! Still turn the wheels to drag the car towards the wall, but experiment to make sure that your other car (if you have one) can tuck tightly along side and that you do not hit the turned wheel sticking out. 3: FURTHER DEFENSES I have a camera front and back on my car which emails me stills footage of the inside and outside if anyone attacks. Motion sensors and approved alarms help too. TRACKERS will allow you to find the impound that the tow companies keep a secret until you have paid them. It is also worth JOINING GOODF (Get Out Of Debt Free) website and for £7 joining fee you get access to the UK Parking Legal Notice - a tax disc sized notice that goes in the window of your car. It works some or most of the time to avoid tickets. 4: THE COUNCILS AND THEIR THREATS We all know the real Law and truth, but it doesnt help to Require of them the contract you signed, along with a Bill. Notices, Warrants, Parking Charge Notices, Statements and any other Notices are NOT Lawful. We know that. Unless they can provide a copy of a signed contract with your wet signature, then they cannot Lawfully (or Legally) enforce. It is important to fulfil your side of the communications by writing to them with a Conditional Offer of Acceptance. That way, when they threaten to send the Bailiffs round to collect on their fraud, you have removed all controversy by communicating with them. And of course, everything else that WE, THE PEOPLE do - removal of implied rights of access etc. Hope this helps some of you. Peace & Love :)
