I hope some day to see people feel they not only can speak boldly - TopicsExpress

I hope some day to see people feel they not only can speak boldly to elected officials about the issues they are concerned about but it becomes common place. Im not saying people should scold or yell at elected officials or candidates but really speak to them candidly about the most important issues we care about and form groups of voters to hold them accountable with our votes and our dollars. Right now people tell me not to speak out to public officials because they might be embarrassed by my concerns or holding them accountable and then I will be blacklisted in the Party by others. Seriously! This is not in my head. Others have experienced this too. My own Assemblyman told me to only contact him through his office ie in private out of the view of public discourse. To speak with my Congressman I have to go to ta town hall and win a lottery ticket to get to ask a question but not have the right to any follow up question should my question not be answered. I went to a town hall meeting from my city mayor along with thousands of other Angelenos and we were told our input would be compiled and made public online for later follow up work but not only was that never done but my questions about it were ignored. What do I care about? Jobs with rising wages that rise with our productivity, increased public investment in education, health care, housing the homeless and helping the elderly to name a few things. What is are my elected representatives doing about these things? I think all of us should ask and there should be transparency and accountability. Dont you?
