I hope that the day off from school today doesnt create a day off from quality education. Take a minute to visit with your kids and remind them that one voice for good, truth, justice, peace - CAN make a difference. I cannot imagine the discrimination that took place among businesses churches, schools, here in the United States and abroad. I am thankful that many have had their eyes opened to the supreme sadness of discrimination and the completely ungodly idea that one is more deserving or better simply because of skin color, race, etc. May we go forward and never again place upon our eyes the blinders of discrimination, may we go forward and attempt to see people through the eyes of the great Creator. May we stand up for injustice when we see it, and ensure that we not perpetuate it through our schools, groups, churches, or most importantly, our hearts. Thank you Dr. King. My heart rejoices in the flood of freedom that resulted from your fearless heart and your willingness to declare the truth when so many didnt want to hear it. I cant imagine a world where my son or daughter would have to be in a separate school, use a special drinking fountain, or not have all access to all the blessings of their religion etc etc........ It takes one person to stand up. I hope to have the courage to be the one. May we all take inventory and file off some of the soul destroying pride, prejudice, and arrogance that can often lead to the mind numbing disease of Us and Them, Black and White, rich or poor. May we strive to be the one and make efforts to more fully be one is my heartfelt prayer today.
