I hope they figuratively/legally crucify everyone in the school - TopicsExpress

I hope they figuratively/legally crucify everyone in the school who was stupid enough to make this a police matter. And the police who failed to investigate and tell the school to get a grip should be (again, figuratively) marched through the streets in shame. This is absurd. No matter how irate Stone became when approached by the police, there is also something to be said about expressing outrage over having POLICE called in on such a matter. Exactly what do our school officials expect--that a child who is saturated with media stories thousands of times more violent than this will somehow magically purge them from his creative consciousness, or anticipate that the faintest mimicry of what he sees in almost all his games, all his comics, all his graphic novels, much if not most of his television and films, many of the books studied in his own school (history, at the very least) will get him suspended? The double-standards, hypocrisy, litigation-terror, and blind bureaucratic application of much less than zero-tolerance have become especially surreal in this case. As Cj Cherryh wrote recently, zero-tolerance must go--simply because it is a nebulous/subjective code that has been established to supplant judgment. That may not have been its intention, but if not, then this is a fun-house mirror depiction of just how far the Law of Unintended Consequences can reach...
