I hope to see the whole documentary. I grew up one of the very few brown people in a very white town. I experienced some racist bullying, my darker sister experienced a lot more. I have observed over time that cultures where the children of different backgrounds and belief systems are allowed/expected to interact naturally the certainty of the other being different and inferior is harder to maintain. It gladdens my heart to see local muslim girls hanging out with their scarf-free class mates - they know there are options, however problematic those options might be. The children of the Jewish Orthodox community in Stamford Hill are more isolated from other cultures – of any sort (I was recommended to a female member of the community by a male colleague so I was around and observing for many years.) - I suspect it will be harder for them to overcome their suspicions. I admit I am boasting when I say I have always been glad to be one of the coffee-coloured people - and one of the reasons I love living in London is that there are so many of here. Miscegenation rules OK!
