I hopped over from Sicily to Malta yesterday. It was a 1.5 hour ferry ride for $90. I know it sounds expensive, but it was less expensive than flying and it was a beautiful, calm day of sailing the Mediterranean, so it was worth the money. Got checked into my home for the next week, a private room in a 4-bedroom apartment thats part of Elanguest English Language School. Seems Malta is one of the worlds most popular destinations for learning English, so I thought it might be interesting to see what its all about, especially since many, many travel bloggers make their way around the world teaching English. So far, I like Malta (though not the neighborhood Im in, as its party central and thats just not my scene). Today I ad a marvelous tour of their sister island, Gozo, which is one of five in the archipelago. This island is a mish-mash of cultures, having played host to Romans, Turks, French, English, and who knows how many others over the centuries. It s also truly bi-lingual (English and Maltese), and has a fascinating history. Will share some photos a bit later but have to take a nap - so much fresh air and walking today I can barely keep my eyes open.
