I imagine some of you are waiting for a comment regarding all of this. -- I thought Id leave it to the good people of the Unity Facebook Family to discuss and comment on for a bit… dialogue is a good thing. Im going to comment in a Jerry Springer kind of way… just an overview -- nothing personal to anyone… so, here it is… -- REALLY FOLKS?… My good friend and employee Brody gets shot at my business -- and I announce it on Facebook… -- OHHH MYYYY GAAAWWWWDDD!!!! ----and ----- WELL RELEASE FOOTAGE TOMORROW! -- (and at the very bottom) -- …..oh……………… Brody got shot! This situation really reminded me of something. -- Theres a reason why the media and adverting push overhyped bullshit at us repeatedly -- because it works. -- Sensationalism by definition is deliberately obtuse, appeals to emotions, is controversial and omits facts and definitions -- and the media and advertising spoon up sensationalism every minute of everyday --- Because, as we saw today, there seems to be a lot of people that want to gobble it up without even scratching at the surface. In yesterdays situation for example - an ARMED ROBBERY and SHOOTING occurred on Main St in little old Osoyoos BC -- and not one single news station picks up the story? - not one police car is seen? - no one hears a peep about it? -- not another scrap of evidence exists to back up a statement that was written on Facebook - in very light hearted context…. from people who are constantly doing humorous things? -- All Im saying is the - hey guys…... waaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiittttt a minute - factor seemed to be pretty big. -- Does anyone follow our Facebook page? -- HUMOUR and JOKING tends to be the daily theme. Probably the craziest part about all of this is that, because people thought Brody got shot, -- today was the LARGEST FRIEND REQUEST on the UNITY Facebook page - since the page first started. --- 3000 PEOPLE watched the video today. -- thats nuts!!! --- On NOVEMBER 2nd well be announcing a HUGE campaign to HELP the HOMELESS this winter -- one of the biggest in the Okanagan - and sadly - I can guarantee it wont get half the response or interest level that this did. For the people who said this scared them… if something scares you -- look into it. The media loves scaring us -- thats what they do best. -- Im not saying the world cant be a scary place… it can be. -- But often times the issue is just a little mouse -- and were all scared because were looking at the 6ft shadow on the wall. ONE LOVE TO ALL. ….. and no hard feelings, -eh? :)
