I interviewed with a family (well call them Family A) on Saturday. - TopicsExpress

I interviewed with a family (well call them Family A) on Saturday. They told me that they would make a decision by the end of the weekend. On Sunday, they told me that one of the candidates rescheduled their interview for Tuesday, so she wouldnt have an answer until then. On Tuesday, she told me that she hadnt called my references yet, so she wouldnt have a decision until Wednesday. In the meantime, I decided to interview with another family (well call them Family B) on Wednesday. This family promised to give me a decision on Thursday. When Family A offered me the position on Wednesday evening, I asked them to please give me one day to hear the decision of Family B. On Thursday, Family A calls asking for an answer, but I still hadnt heard from Family B. I asked her to please wait a few more hours as it was still very early in the evening. Three hours later, Family A calls me back to say that they are hiring their second choice. At this point, I call them back to tell them that Id prefer to work for them as Family B has not replied. Family A tells me that she called and offered the position to their second choice. An hour later Family B tells me that they decided to choose a nanny-share instead of a live-in nanny. Todays lesson: Accept the position, then quit if the better family offers you a position. You have to worry about yourself before you worry about doing whats right because these families definitely didnt mind giving me the run around. FML :(
