I invented a new game driving home from work today, but Ive been alone all evening so I havent tried it out yet. It has a working title of Id Barely Rather (alternative titles are Id rather not or Compromise) The idea is one person suggests an unpleasant activity, for example licking a slug, and then each person (I imagine 2 people playing) comes up with an alternative activity that is better than that option, something they would rather do, but the catch is it still has to be worse than the idea the other person suggests. Hope youre still following. Both people then say their options at the same time and whoever has the option people vote as the middle option wins. So the trick is to come up with an option thats good, but not AS good as what you think the other person will suggest. This way you have to try and make up a semi unappealing option and undershoot the other person. Also you have to be kind of twisted. My additional rule is that the suggestions stay in a theme. Example: Lick a slug (theme is licking or eating) Person one: Id rather lick the sole of my own foot Person two: Id rather eat a pickle Winner is obviously player 1 since this is something youd rather do than lick a slug, but is worse than just eating a pickle Example 2: never be able to wear any underwear (theme clothing) Person one: Id rather never be able to wear enclosed shoes Person two: Id rather never be able to wear shorts Winner: much tougher to call, you would have to put it to the vote with your judge! 2 player: alternate who makes up the prompt, both players make up an alternative, both players debate/vote who wins 3 players: one player makes up the prompt, the other two players come up with an alternative each, the third player votes on the winner 4+ players: either two players come up with the options and everyone else votes, or everyone makes an alternative and then the vote is to find which option is the least appealing but still *just* better than the prompt :) let me know if you try it or have feedback, just my thought for the evening.
