I invite all Sudburians to visit this very moving exhibit on Residential Schools and their devastating impact on so many Aboriginal students, families and communities: Tuesday (tomorrow) 9am-9pm, Wednesday 9am-4pm, Thursday 9am-9pm, Friday 9am-4pm at the Archives of the JN Desmarais Library at Laurentian University - Université Laurentienne. Today was an emotional day which began with a sunrise ceremony, followed by a private opening for survivors and their families, and a public opening of the exhibit. We were honoured to hear from Susan Manitowabi from our School of Native Human Services, Edler Hilda Nadjiwan, Chief Steve Miller, Deputy Grand Council Chief Glen Hare, Mike Cachagee (Past Chairperson of the National Residential School Survivor Society) and from my colleague Dr Mike DeGagné, President of Nipissing University who previously served as Executive Director of the Aboriginal Healing Foundation. Conferences are also planned every day - I will post the schedule below. cbc.ca/news/canada/sudbury/residential-school-exhibit-documents-pain-1.1873027
