I invited Matt Hancock MP, the minister for Skills to visit the area. Today he went to Blackpool & Fylde College, Fleetwood Nautical campus where the college, local MPs & councils, and businesses lobbied the minister to approve the building of the National Energy College here on the Fylde Coast. I then took him to meet staff and students at Blackpool Sixth Form College for a tour around their new build and facilities. During the tour Matt was asked to hand out a certificate to a teacher who has won a national silver award for her outstanding teaching. She is one of the best 59 teachers in the country and is in the running for the gold award to be the best teacher in the country; in a ceremony to be held in Parliament.
