I just almost ended my 20+ year marriage, folks. Not kidding. I was THIS close to Splitsville. You see, I have been having issues with these crickets Ive been buying the spiders for their meals. I hate crickets. Theyre hard to get out of the bag, they are hard to keep alive, they can be dangerous to the tarantulas, and they make it sound like Im camping every night. I hate camping too. I bought some superworms instead, but the burrow down under the substrate when I drop them in, then the spiders cant find them. Plus Alice is way too little for superworms. I thought Id found my salvation in roaches. Not house roaches because eww and because we spray pesticides everywhere to kill those. Dont want my girls eating a pesticide laden roach. So, I decided to look online for some feeder roaches. I found a place that sells them so you can start your own little colony and never have to buy them again. Easy to catch, easy to keep alive, more nutritious for the girls, and small enough for Alice. Perfect! So I went to buy 100 small dubia roaches off Amazon using a gift card I got for my bday. Right as Im about to order I notice the roaches in the pic look a litte on the large size. So I google it. Okay so these roaches I just almost send to my house to breed are small, but apparently they grow to be Godzilla sized roaches, and fairly quickly. It wouldnt have been long at all before my tiny roach colony turned into 500 gigantic cockroaches. Some of you may be wondering why this would get me divorced and others of you are laughing hysterically or shrieking in horror because you know, or share, my husbands extreme paralyzing cockroach phobia. He wont sleep in the house if theres a cockroach inside unless he sees me kill it. Its that bad. And I just almost started a full colony of them. One small oversight on $15 worth of feeder bugs couldve ended our marriage! I guess Im sticking with crickets then. Did I mention I hate crickets?
