I just answered an automated phone call that was a poll about who I would vote for in the 8th Congressional District race if the election was held today. I believe the poll is extremely interesting news in regard to my campaign. This congressional race has been listed as safe Republican all year, in every source, meaning no one has been expected to stand a chance against the incumbent. So here is the interesting part. General opinion polls are usually not conducted in so-called safe districts. This tells me that someones campaign (the one candidate who can afford to pay for conducting a poll) is likely behind the poll, seeking results for his own information, and likely has new concerns about his competition. The timing seems interesting to me given the forum that was held on Tuesday night. Just speculation on my part, of course (there could be other reasons, I suppose) but do you think the incumbent might be starting to have a few doubts about the election?
