I just arrived from a two-week pilgrim tour to Holy Land. I am amazed that VP Binays case dominates the headlines in the Philippine Daily Inquirer the past two weeks! And to think that this case has been hogging media probably for at least the past two months! Other local papers like Phil Daily Star, Manila Bulletin, etc. must have similarly published this case. And now, this open letter to him allegedly coming from a former friend published through the Asian Journal, San Diego California, USA. I do not remember seeing a case hogging the headlines as much and long as the case of VP Binay. Not even the devastating super typhoon, Yolanda, which hit the country about a year ago. In other countries, a case like this is ended fast either by the subject himself or by the pressure of public opinion. They do not even have to wait to prove that the case is beyond reasonable doubt. They do not even invoke God! Because if a person is clean, I do not think he will allow himself to be subjected to a lengthened, threatening and humiliating process! He will be transparent, boldly confronting the case. He will not resort to scheming ways that raises more questions than answers to clear his case. Honestly, for the good of VP Binay and the Filipino people he has vowed to serve, my unsolicited advice is for him to grab the bull by the horns.
