I just attended with Atefeh Morshedi and amazing stranding workshop at the Sausalito Marine Mammal center! We learned so much about all the types of seals and sea lions that live in the Bay Area, about they behavior and the dangers they are facing everyday. In the afternoon, we went to the beach to learn how to catch seals/see lions that need to be rescued. The practice consisted of the instructor playing the role of the seal, and the volunteers working as a team with a net, wooden boards and a cage, and trying to catch the seal. Oh, and now I finally know how to make the difference with the different types of seals and sea lions :)
