I just came from my first planning commission meeting. I learned so much. There is so much going on in Etowah right now, and all for the good. Tonight the planning commission officially put Scott Cass gated subdivision on hold until a resolution could be drawn up and passed to allow more footage from the house to the street. During the discussion it was noted that 15-16 doctors were coming to the Etowah and Athens area. Wow! I dont know what they will do in Etowah, but apparently they are coming. Then representatives from Little Caesars were there and got the go-ahead to build at the old Kidds Drive-In, and of interest to me was that they are going to have drive-through windows on both sides. And our building and codes inspector, Chris Hicks (I hope I got his name right), presented printouts of both a new city logo and a logo to promote tourism. They both were VERY impressive. They now go to the city commission for approval. During that discussion it was revealed that a roof will be built over the stage at the depot and it will be very unique (they said in the shape of something, but I couldnt make it out). It was a very interesting and informative meeting. So to all you naysayers out there, much is in the works for Etowah. It wont change things overnight, but give it some time and see the difference. Im glad I went to the meeting. If you would go, you would be glad too!
