I just came from the supermarket where I encountered a young lady - TopicsExpress

I just came from the supermarket where I encountered a young lady sitting just to side of the front door sitting on a tattered blanket with a dog at her side. She was opening a bag of dog treats to give to her companion. She wasn’t holding a sign asking for handouts, but clearly this was a woman did not appear to have much. As I walked through the store, I kept thinking about this woman and her dog. As I am often guilty of, I began asking myself what her situation is. “I wonder how broke she is or if she is just playing the part of a panhandler?” What dawned on me is that it is not my place to ask such questions. It became clear to me that God was using this example to show me that it is not about giving to those who deserve it the most. The stark reality is that not one of us, whether we be rich or poor deserve anything at all. As I began to think about her more, my heart became heavier and tears began to roll down my face. I am hesitant to give money to anyone as the last time I did so, I was beat up at gunpoint. I knew this was different, however. As I checked out, I positioned some money into my hand to give to her as I left the store. When I approached her I simply said “God loves you so much and I want you to have this.” I knew the most important thing she needed is to hear is that God loves her – because we all need to be reminded of that. I was so blessed to have run into her and so thankful that God used this example to teach and to bless me.
