I just came in the house but I didnt want to. I was on sensory overload. The sun was setting ever so gently in the west and I enjoyed seeing a leafless tree as it painted a dainty silhouette against streaks of light blue, pink and cream. High in its branches against the twilight sky was a squirrels nest waiting for its little tenant to come home. Somewhere in the neighborhood, not too far away I could smell a neighbor burning leaves stirring memories of long ago. The bright red leaves of our burning bushes and Japanese maples dangled but hung on for dear life, somehow sensing that this is the end of the line for them. As much as I loved seeing all of this I think that my favorite part of the night was the wonderful orchestra playing in the background . The peepers were in fine tune tonight, perhaps their finale before a long winters sleep.
