I just cant win can I :/ They came and sorted out my boiler at about 8.30 this morning and the radiators were JUST starting to warm up again when POP - the electricity went off ! I got a letter from Western Power last week to say that it would be off for essential maintenance (tree-cutting they said), but Id forgotten it was going to be today :-( So there I was, even worse off than before, the boiler was fixed, because although its an oil-fired boiler, without the electricity the water doesnt circulate through the system. And with no electricity I couldnt even use the perishing fan-heater, OR the electric kettle, OR the computer so Ive been huddled under the bedclothes for the past 2 & a half hours waiting for the power to come back on, which thank God it just did a few minutes ago. I MUST get better prepared for the next time this happens, Ive got a portable calor-gas fire here but Ive got no idea how to connect it up, and Ive also got a little propane camping stove somewhere (probably in the shed) if I can dig that out and learn how to use it at least Ill be able to boil a kettle for tea next time the power goes off.
