I just created an EVENT PAGE for HMC...please take a look at the page if you have interest... 2014-2015 SEASON INFORMATION!!! From TOM JABER, HMC Artistic and Music Director Hello HOUSTON!!! ...And, thank you for your interest in the HOUSTON MASTERWORKS CHORUS!!! We will commence our 2014-15 Season with a short, informal retreat at First Presbyterian Church in Houston on Friday evening, August 22nd and Saturday morning, August 23rd. We rehearse on Monday evenings from then on...except, of course, Labor Day and other designated national holidays, etc. in the lovely Choir Room of the First Presbyterian Church in Houston. 7-9pm. Our first concert is on October 26th at 4pm in the stunningly beautiful Sanctuary of the South Main Baptist Church...a very interesting program of individual Mass movements. We will present this fabulous program with internationally acclaimed concert organist, DARYL ROBINSON. We then sing our annual Christmas Concert at the magnificent Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in downtown Houston on Monday evening, December 15th at 7pm. We will be doing all four suites of Robert Russell Bennetts beloved Many Moods of Christmas with a guest chamber orchestra comprised of many of Houstons very finest orchestral musicians. The wonderful RACHEL CHAO TSAI will be this concerts pianist. She will play a gorgeous Schimmel Concert Grand Piano that is being provided by Forshey Piano Company specifically for this occasion. Our Spring Concert will be in the gorgeous Sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, Houston in Houston on Friday evening, March 27th at 7:30pm. We will do Tarik ORagins Dorchester Canticles and Maurice Durufles Requiem with internationally acclaimed concert organist KENNETH COWAN. To close the season, we will be the chorus for a presentation of the Mahler Symphony No. 2 with the Texas Medical Center Orchestra in the Cullen Theater at the Wortham Theater Center in early May. Music Director, LIBI LEBEL, will conduct this festive concert presentation by the TMC Orchestra. Vocal soloists are Andrea Jaber, mezzo-soprano and Nicole Franklin, soprano.
