I just figured out how to check my answers on an abacus. The way is not to use a calculator but rather just do the problem in reverse. For starters we need to think of a number. I never do random numbers rather words. So I saw the word "homecare" so home + care or 54 + 22. I am fortunate enough to know the numerical values of sounds based on the ~alefbeyt. This is handy. ok so I do the problem on the abacus. 54 + 22=76 How do I know this is correct? To check and make sure it is correct one just does it in reverse. 76-54=22 boom! the answer is right. Anyway the advantage of the abacus is the numbers are concrete. You can see them, you can feel them, another sense is engaged and also enhanced for instance 7 is a pattern rather than a funny symbol.
