I just finished Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman for the first time. It was the only Gaiman book apart from his newest novel or one of his childrens books that I had not read yet. It was awesome, of course, because everything Neil Gaiman does is awesome. But now I have book angst. book angst: - noun. The sensation of longing which is impossible to fill felt upon finishing an excellent book. Book angst can be caused by one or more of the following: (a) Not knowing what to do with yourself for the next few hours after finishing a book. Watching TV would be to jarring after reading, and it would make the book after glow fade much more quickly. Reading another book sounds good, but your head is still so full of the book you just finished that switching to new characters and a new setting would feel like going to sleep in one city and waking up in another city hundreds of miles away. (b) Wanting to read the book again immediately, but knowing that it wouldnt feel the same unless you let it sit for a while first before re-reading. (c) Wanting to know what happens to the characters after the book ends, and knowing you will never find out because the book doesnt have any sequels. Symptoms of book angst may include: wandering aimlessly around the house wondering what to do with yourself, staring sadly at the last page of your book, staring confused at your bookshelf, trying to find all your friends who have read the book so you can talk about it to someone, or posting about it on facebook
