Thanks so much Suzanne! Here is her post: A few of you may know that I enjoy researching Arkansas history, particularly the people who lived in the area from the 1840s and onward. I just discovered Nancy Dane s historical novels. They have been in print for several years, but I was slow to find them. They are set in Arkansas during the War and Reconstruction years of the 1860s. There are several novels in the series and they all fit together, with characters from one often making appearances in others, which lends a continuing family saga impression. The first thing I noticed, when I began book one is the historical accuracy. The second is that characters speak their own views on what is happening around, and to, them. There were, during those years in Arkansas, a variety of views and temperaments, as well as differing living conditions and family values. Many of those are represented in Mrs. Danes works and that gives a credibility to the novels that is often missing in historical fiction. There is no voice telling the reader what they should believe, or which historical account of battles and causes is most accurate. The voice comes from each character living, rather than telling, their own view. Here is a link to Nancy Danes website and I recommend all her books to you.
