I just found this blog post and could NOT help it, I just had to comment. I would ask that you IF you choose to leave a comment, be kind and respectful. She is loving the captives a bit too much, but I believe, with some education, we may get her to see the light. Here is the comment I left ~ I am glad that you are being somewhat open minded about the fact that animals should not be in captivity. However, you admit to being a little selfish because you want to see these animals up close. I just have a couple of questions, first have you SEEN Blackfish? What about The Cove (a documentary that tells about the killing and capture of Dolphins in Taiji, Japan, by the way it won an Academy Award)? Have you done research about effects on Dolphins, Whales and other animals in captivity? (By research I mean studies done by someone other than SeaWorld themselves) I am not coming at you from a place of disrespect or aggressiveness. I am simply asking you to do some homework on this issue. Did you know there is proposed legislation in California and New York that would make it illegal to keep these animals in captivity? Did you know that Congress has successfully passed an amendment that will force the U.S. Department of Agriculture to update their rules that protect captive orcas and other marine mammals? Many nations around the globe have banned captivity of Dolphins and Whales and some have even given non-human rights to these animals. So, I hope you continue to be open minded and see that captivity is literally killing these majestic, highly intelligent beings.
