I just got a call from my family that my Auntie Ruthie died this - TopicsExpress

I just got a call from my family that my Auntie Ruthie died this morning. I prayed that she would make it to her birthday (today) and she did..dying after midnight. Im not posting this for condolences......I simply wanted to share Auntie Ruthie with the world one last time....she is my moms sister and lived a long and really great life...I do not remember her ever frowning or being angry, but there is this little part of me that is sure that she yelled at me and my siblings when we stayed in Williamsport at her and Uncle Deans house...along with her kids, David, Bob and Ron....as we definitely got into trouble more than one time during those escapades. It was while visiting Auntie and the family that I discovered Peanut Vanilla Ice cream..which to this day is my favorite flavor ( I can even make it myself now!). Auntie Ruthie was a part of our lives no matter where she lived...be it Williamsport in the 60s., Landsdale in the 70s, 80s, and 90s or York to the present day...we visited often...and each time was a hoot...lots of laughter, lots of stories...and the coffee pot was never empty! My grandma Spittle was a sewing factory lady...she used to live with us and my poor sister had to share a bedroom with her....eventually Grandma moved to Staten Island and finished her life lying in a bed at Aunt Ruthies home....at the same time Uncle Deans mom also lived at their home...it was the kind of people they were..sharing and caring.... I was lucky that when I got the call last week that Auntie Ruthie was, indeed, not going to live much longer (we made an emergency run to her house 2 years ago with our family....all to say goodbye to her when the Docs gave her just a few months to live...she fooled them)....My 89 yr old dad and my Auntie Judy (her sis) and I drove to York last Saturday morning....hung out with Auntie Ruthie for the day and even in her last days...she was cracking jokes at us....we gabbed in between her getting pain meds....and being moved around to lessen the pain of her bedsores....I will cherish that final day....happy birthday, Auntie Ruthie!!!
