I just got a phone call from Bank of America asking for my Israeli ID number. My grandfather left money in trust with his widow (his second wife) as the beneficiary, she gets money from the trust monthly until 120. In case there may still be money after 120 then my siblings and cousins get to split what is left once my younger brother (the youngest of all of us) is 36. We arent talking a large sum at this point, it will all be gone in another 6 years any which way from the monthly stipends for his widow, but it seems it is being reported to the Israeli government. Why? How will this affect me? What should I expect? Since all of my Bank of America accounts are linked, will my other accounts be reporting to the Israeli government too? I cant touch the money, and none of it is likely to ever be mine, so it being reported seems a bit odd and unnerving. Thanks!
