I just got a visit from a concerned citizen committee that will have a meeting of the Ranchos del Sol Neighborhood - Thursday Oct 16 at 7 pm Loma Verde School Reason: Discuss strategies to stop construction of a 300 unit low income housing apartment complex. hmmmm nimby syndrome. Not in my backyard. Reason: increased crime rate, safety of the neighborhood, increased traffic, decrease in property values. Boy did they come to invite the wrong person. I just smiled and thanked them. My city rep never helped me stop the shack that my neighbor constructed. My back yard has a view of Tianguis like the worst way and many calls and letter and visits with no result not even a courtesy follow up. Should I go and assist the city in their quest to build affordable housing or should I just shut my mouth and say nothing. Good Connie is thinking go and advocate for affordable housing but my not so good self is saying stay out of this, it is not your fight or is it not? Does it matter what one says when the city time after does whatever it wants even when the citizens duly vote against a project, they still go ahead so does it really matter in El Paso, are open meetings just a waste of time..
