I just got an Email from one of my US Senators, Hatch, who decried the SCOTUS refusal to hear Utahs appeal on its ban of Marriage Equality. He stated that is was a violation of his Religion Freedom Act that he fought so hard for. Sen. Hatch stated, ...By working to make government and religion PARTNERS once more rather than antagonists, we can revive the view that religion is a force for good rather than something to be swept under the rug. And by ensuring that our religious heritage maintains a robust role in our educational curricula, we can ensure that our children understand that religion helped our heroes accomplish great things and made our nation what it is today. In his mind religion trumps all other civil rights and there is no separation of church and state. Combine that with what Justices Scalia and Thomas have stated and you have the making of a Theocracy. The American Taliban, if you will.
