I just got back from Wichita with my parents. Mom need to go to McConnell Air Force Base to get medicine and go to the commissary and Dad and I wanted to go to the hobby shop in Wichita. Since I am no longer a dependent I dont get to go to the base very often but when I do it brings back memories of very early childhood. To begin with, I was born there even though the hospital building I was born in got wiped out by a tornado in 1991. I have so many memories like pointing to the big green airplanes and telling Mom that they were Daddys airplanes (F-105s), the big gray airplanes were someone elses airplanes and the little white airplanes just to the north (on Cessna property) were mine (I figured they were mine because they were little). There are 2 F-105s on static display that my dad had flown and one of them, a single seat F-105D with the tail number RK 253 was assigned to my dad in Thailand in 1968 and at the time was named Buns Baby. We were short on time but I did get to see both 105s and my heart tingled when we drove past RK 253.
