I just got back from a trip to California where I was filmed for an upcoming show for the History Channel’s award winning TV documentary astronomy series – The Universe. The show I appeared on is about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. If it doesn’t wind up on the cutting room floor, I explained how Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by a comet that exploded in the atmosphere above Sodom and Gomorrah. This is not unlike the cometary airburst that struck Tunguska Siberia in 1908. With a breathtaking steep rock mountainside at my back, I discussed the scriptures and physical evidence for the catastrophic destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. In this case we clearly have the Bible and science coming together in what I call Biblical CSI (crime scene investigation). This is the approach I use in my book The Comets of God (thecometsofgod). We serve a God who is so in control of the objects of heaven, a.k.a. “the host of heaven” (Isaiah 40:26 and re: “host” see Deuteronomy 4:19) that he signed His covenant with Abram by passing a “burning lamp,” that is, a meteorite between the divided pieces of the sacrifice that Abram made for God (Genesis 15:6-8). The Universe show is slated to air in late 2014.
