I just got back from a trip to Vashon Island off the coast of Seattle. I cannot overstate the beauty. The silence. The nothing. Every bird, every raccoon mattered. Walked on a mountain ridge, the loudest sound was the rain and even that was a whisper. Had to sleep in a scarf and socks. Watched ducks running in the front yard. If you think that is as good as it gets you would be wrong. The house where we were staying belongs to a woman who makes caramel. Caramel. We found the room where she stored the extras.
