I just got back from the International Route 66 Mother Road festival and Car Show in Springfield, IL. It was an amazing 3 days with a parade of cars over 2 hours long. Unfortunately, out of the 1500 or more cars there was only one GLHS representing the Shelby Dodge community. Oh, the LeBacon was there but its only an SD wannabee. Burnout contests, dyno pulls, bands, and lots of food and drinks. Jan and I drove about 100 miles of old 66 going there and back. Great fun. I hope there is some SDAC presence there next year. Here is the Bacon on what I am told is the last remaining stretch of original Route 66 pavement.
