I just got bit! Not the first time, but the first time. Ive - TopicsExpress

I just got bit! Not the first time, but the first time. Ive gotten bit breaking up dog fights. Dumb reaction, jump in and keep the dogs from hurting each other. Fez has bitten me because he was adamant I should not open the door to certain strangers and when I ignored his warning, he went in full protection mode: Save mommy even if I have to bite her arm off :-) Now this is my first time for an aggression bite. Got a call from a friend asking if I could hold a dog for a few days. People were moving and going to dump it. I said sure as long as it was gone by Tuesday morning. Well, I got the call from the owners. Her story changed every 15 seconds. I told her where to bring it. I knew from the whole conversation this was not going to go well, but I sure did not expect it to go the way it went. They pull up and before I could get to the door, she was at the door. My guys go nuts. I walk out to their car and she gets the dog out. It starts coming towards me. Not in a menacing way, but more curious. I was told this is a really sweet dog so I was not on alert. She goes to jerking the dog back. I say What are you doing and she says I dont want him to bite you. I say, so has he bitten someone before?. She stammers and says well, no. (Im sure she was lying) So I tell her by jerking him around like that you are setting him up to bite. By jerking him away from me you have relayed to him that I am a threat. So the dog squats to pee and the guy comes over and starts pushing the dog around. I say he is peeing. Let him pee! By now this dog is so agitated. I could see it in his eyes. My hand was by my side and wham, he got me. It is not a bad bite but I think I was almost ready for it... or something, anyway. I was NOT very nice. I literally told them Dont you ever get a dog again... ever.. until you take some classes and learn how to properly treat one. You have screwed this poor dog up because you are idiots! Yes, I said that! And then I told them to leave and take the dog with. I REALLY feel bad for the dog, but if he were to get in with mine and there was trouble.... well, I wont risk it. BTW, this was NOT a Pyr or any of the breeds I deal with, but I still would have treated it with care and respect... .until it bit me!
