I just got home from Yuma. I drove all the way up the mountain - TopicsExpress

I just got home from Yuma. I drove all the way up the mountain and it was still over 100°F when I left clear skies behind and hit a thunderstorm over Pine Valley. For about 3 miles I drove through thunder, lightning, and hailstones big enough so that I was worried they would take out my windshield. Lighting struck the center divider not more than 150 from where I was driving (20 mph behind someone from Arizona who looked like they thought the end of the world had suddenly come upon us), near the border patrol checkpoint. The sound of the strike was so loud that it felt like I was at a Circle Seven show without earplugs, and that was through my rolled-up windows and over the drone of my Air Conditioner (remember, it was still over 100°). After 3 miles, as soon as I passed Pine Valley, it stopped as quickly as it had started and I continued down the hill into San Diego under clear blue skies.
