I just got home from a very long & laborious shift. I had every intention on holding ill-feelings toward my situation tonight, or last night, rather. But on my way home, I began reading Up From Slavery by Booker T. Washington, and I was again reminded of the blessing Im bestowed to have to deal with such a long night of work. Reading his first hand account on literally starting from the bottom to becoming a highly respected educator and innovator is inspiring and humbling to say the least! I thank him and every other forefather and mother that laid the foundations for me to go further and pursue my dreams and goals to leave a profound mark on this world. I recommend that EVERYONE read his story. Even though I dont necessarily agree with some of his views that obviously stemmed from an entirely different train of thought/ time period, I admire his passion for being more than what anyone expected of him. And on that note Ill be lighting up! Have a good day, may peace and love reign supreme in all that you do!
