I just got news that a friend of mine Larry Mellette, has passed away. Larry was the founder of the Phoenix Audio Tape Co. & The Phoenix Audio Community Forums. It was a sad night as I was just listening to the annual Christmas music CD that I got in the mail from the forum community. I went on to give thanks for it only to find out that Larry was gone. I had been away from the forum for a bit but did keep tabs on him here on FB. While I never physically met him, I did have the opportunity to get to know him on a more personal level via many email exchanges over the past couple years. He was not only a helpful individual, he along with the rest of the forum community established a level of trust that I hadnt experienced in a long time, exchanging equipment even just to try out, addresses shared etc. It felt really good to be a part of that community a restored my faith in my fellow man. Just proved to me that there are still some good ones out there. Larry was a man of deep faith and was wonderful to chat with through some exciting times in my life as well as some really dark times. When I think about him as time goes on, it will also be a reminder that I should perhaps talk less and listen more. For anyone that might be interested, there is a memorial fund set up at the website for his wife Carly to assist in final expenses.
