I just got off and the ride home alone usually lets my mind - TopicsExpress

I just got off and the ride home alone usually lets my mind wander. Over and over it has wandered back to Trayvon and now Micheal Brown. Now this is just a disclaimer: My statements are going to upset some but isnt our job to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable? So heres my position on how WE can change the senseless killing of our children. Yes we need to march, and protest and seek to impact the economy through boycotts BUT FIRST we need to STOP devaluing us. I learned long ago that you teach people how to treat you and I am sick of our people acting like heathens! We curse and whip our children in stores for being children or grabbing chips. So WE publicly DEVALUE our children. WE give others permission to treat our children with disrespect because we dont respect them. We curse and lament and show out rather than act with some character to resolve issues in our ignorant I wish a _blank_ would attitude. We post ourselves as clowns setting ourselves on fire and having fights in the streets over whatever. We wear bonnets, pajama pants and houseshoes and other ignorance into public places. WE CALL each other N**** in public with no regard for those around us. BUT then we wanna cry when folks dont see us as decent!!! We arent acting DECENT! And we are being treated like we act. My point is ALL of us may not do it but ALL of us are stereotyped because of it and its time out for this foolishness that WE perpetuate! If we carried ourselves with respect then wed earn respect. Aint NOBODY gonna respect us if we dont respect ourselves! It starts at home. Lead by example: Pull these kids off these corners, make these boys pull up their pants and straighten their backs, put these girls in some clothes and make straight As more important than their twerking, make them speak appropriately, train them to act with calm, kind integrity and then start marching. They are not killing Asians in the street like us nor Hispanics in the streets like us but then again I dont see them acting like us either. We must be the change we expect to see.
