I just have been talking nonstop about this #SelfieSelfEsteem project to anyone that would listen to me today and HAD to share on here too! Our incredible Art teacher had her middle school students, some of our faculty (and me) take their selfies however they wanted. She printed them in black and white and as a class laid them all out on the tables- each student had to go around and write one positive compliment on each and every picture! It was incredible to see not only the kindness and honesty they all showed but to see the students who were so embarrassed in the beginning that they placed their photos immediately face down become the ones at the end who were starring at their photos, face up and looking at themselves through the eyes of the ones around them! It was the coolest social experiment really and to see it unfold and watch these tiny humans walk out of that room with a new found sense of confidence was beyond awesome! Im just so lucky I could be a part of it! The students all got to take home their little reminders-- this is a photo of ours from the day and next class theyll all work on adding cool and unique abstract color pieces to their photos! Seriously one of the best weeks Ive had volunteering and hands down my new favorite project! Thanks so much for letting me a part of it!
